Rev. Martha Touchton
Minister of Adult Discipleship and Mission
Rev. Martha Touchton is responsible for Christian education for all ages, adult ministry, children’s ministry, family ministry and shared congregational care. Before joining the St. Mark’s team, Martha served as a leader of education and music ministries in several
area churches.
Martha believes that the people who have the deepest walk with Christ are those who
devote themselves to studying the scriptures, and she is passionate about helping
people grow in their understanding and discipleship.
Martha first heard the call of Christ as a camper, and then counselor, at Wesley Acres
Camp in North Dakota, where she grew up. She earned her bachelor’s degree at
Westmar College in accounting and Christian education, which became her focus for her master’s degree at Scarritt Graduate School. She was ordained a deacon in the
Tennessee Conference of the UMC in 1999.
Martha is married to Butler, and they have four children and two grandchildren. Outside
of work, Martha can typically be found supporting her family in their various endeavors,
cooking, reading, listening to music and working the New York Times Sunday crossword.
