What to expect
What should I expect in a worship service?
You can expect a service at St. Mark’s to be a place to worship God and listen for guidance from the Holy Spirit. The worship service includes congregational singing (usually accompanied by a choir, piano or organ), prayer, scripture reading, a children’s message and a sermon given by a pastor, which is followed by a time of response, offering and benediction. The service lasts about an hour.
Will I have to say anything or be singled out in any way?
You won’t be put on the spot. You won’t have to raise your hand, wear a name tag or be singled out. There is a welcome pad on each pew, and you’re invited to sign it to let us know you visited. The information you provide is only used to welcome you. We also have a gift for you. You can stop by the welcome center in the narthex at the center of
the building to pick it up.
What will my children do?
Childcare is available for children ages three months up to four years during all worship services. All children are invited to worship in the sanctuary and enjoy a special story time during the service; after that, they may pick up tote bags containing activity pages, crayons and other items to use while they sit with their families.
What should I wear?
Please dress as you feel comfortable. Some people dress casually and some dress up. The focus in worship is on God, not on what people are wearing.
Where should I park?
Marked spaces for visitors are located on the South side of the Sanctuary. Open parking is available around the entire campus.
Is the church building accessible?
Marked spaces for handicap permit holders are located on both sides of the sanctuary. The church building is accessible and almost entirely on one level. An elevator is available to access the second floor. Sanctuary seating with added floor space is designated for persons using mobility devices. Hearing enhancement devices are available for worship services – just ask an usher handing out bulletins for assistance.
Do you serve coffee?
Coffee and tea are available before worship services in the Narthex at the center of the building. Please enjoy a cup in the Narthex or take it with you to a Christian education class.
What else happens on Sunday mornings?
Christian education classes meet for all ages – children, students and adults – from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. You’re invited to join in.
