Planning for future ministry with generosity. An endowment gift is a
way to establish a financial foundation on which, with God’s help, St.
Mark’s UMC can use the gift for God’s purposes for generations to come.
The St. Mark’s Permanent Endowment Fund provides for the
opportunity to make gifts that will become a perpetual source of
financial support and a living memorial.
Use and management of the fund
The gifts given to the Endowment Fund remain in the fund. The income
generated from them will be available for use by the church to support
needs of the church in the following areas:
- Children and Youth
- Missions
- Property
- Scholarship
- Worship and Music
- General
The Endowment Fund is directed by the Endowment Committee,
consisting of eight voting members, and the senior pastor and business
administrator as non-voting members. The committee will strictly
comply with the Endowment Fund Guidelines set forth in its charter. The
committee will work closely with the United Methodist Foundation for
the Memphis and Tennessee Conferences, which invests the gifts.
If there is a discrepancy between the Endowment Fund information on
the Website and the Endowment Fund Guidelines, the Endowment Fund
Guidelines will govern.
Ways to give
All gifts, no matter what their size, are important to the long-term
ministry of St. Mark’s. One easy way to give is through memorials or
honorariums to celebrate a special person, event, or milestone in your life
or the life of the church. Gifts to the Endowment are permanent,
ensuring that the benefits produced by the gifts are also permanent.
Gifts can take many forms, including cash, stocks, bonds, life insurance,
real estate and other types of present or deferred gifts. If desired, a
committee member is available to meet with you and your financial
advisor to help plan for your gifts.
