Rev. Tommy Ward
Senior Pastor
Rev. Tommy Ward is responsible for the overall spiritual and operational leadership of St. Mark’s UMC. He preaches, teaches, provides congregational care and works with
ministry leaders across the church. Tommy previously served as the director of the
Nashville Area Office of Ministerial Concerns and, prior to that, was appointed to pastor
three other United Methodist churches in the Tennessee Conference.
Tommy is passionate about communicating the Good News of God’s love to people in
ways they can understand and to which they may respond.
Tommy’s family and others in his hometown of Pulaski, Tenn., recognized his talents as a minister early in life, but Tommy felt the Lord’s call to ministry later as a college
student participating in the Wesley Foundation campus ministry. He received his
Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi and his Master of Divinity from
Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Tommy was ordained an elder in the
Tennessee Conference of the UMC in 1997.
Tommy enjoys everything Ole Miss, and makes regular pilgrimages to Oxford, Miss., for
football games in the fall. He also enjoys watching sports, reading, laughing and theatre.
