HyeLan Pearce
Director of Worship and Music
HyeLan Pearce is
responsible for worship ministry, music ministries for all ages and shared
congregational care. She has been involved in church music ministry since she
was in middle school.
Hyelan is passionate
about finding the talents in our congregation and using them to enhance the
worship experience. She believes music is a great medium to communicate
God’s grace and love through all generations.
HyeLan earned a
bachelor’s of music in piano performance from SungShin Women’s University in
South Korea and a master’s in choral conducting from the University of
Kentucky, after moving to the U.S. in 1991 and becoming a U.S. citizen. She
served eight years as an associate music director and seven years as a director
of music at churches in Cincinatti, Ohio, prior to coming to St. Mark’s.
HyeLan is married to
Dan, and they have one son. HyeLan enjoys cooking and watching college
football. She also loves dogs, especially her apricot miniature poodle named
Oori.
