As a part of the monthly worship schedule, St. Mark’s is pleased to offer
our “First Thursday” worship in the manner of the Taizé Community
on the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. The service
centers on song, prayer, meditation, and silence.
The Taizé Community is found in southeastern France near the Swiss border and serves as a place rooted in forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace. Thousands of people from across the globe make the pilgrimage to Taizé every year to share their lives with one another in a spirit of prayer and fellowship. As they leave, they are filled with a sense of reverent quietness and simplicity that permeates their daily lives.
The services are led by Rev. Jackson W. Henry, Minister of Music and Worship,
who is himself a two-time pilgrim to the Taizé Community. Various
instruments will be included in worship, depending on the liturgical season
and the songs themselves.
Let us help you center your life in prayer, that you may contemplate the light of Christ within and share the joy and peace that light brings.
