St. Mark’s Music and Arts Programming
Children’s Choirs
Children’s music at St. Mark’s is
designed so that children will have fun, grow spiritually, and experience
different styles of music. The fall season features a rotation of
choir, praise team, and Orff instruments, and all groups participate in
these opportunities. The highlights of the spring season are the
musicals that are presented on the closing Mid-Week L.I.F.T. Wednesday
night. The Angel Choir rehearses from 6:30-7:00 p.m., with Bible
Zone following, and the Carol and Bethlehem Choirs rehearse from 6:30-7:30
p.m. The Carol Ringers rehearse from 4:30-5:30 p.m., just before
Mid-Week L.I.F.T. dinner.

G.R.A.C.E.
G.R.A.C.E., meaning “God’s Redeeming
Acts Cleansing Everyone,” is a dance and movement group led by Ashley Hughey
that meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center.
Open to Grades 2-12, G.R.A.C.E. plays a wonderful creative role in special
worship services through the year at St. Mark’s.
SONlight
SONlight is the youth choir of St.
Mark’s, and this group participates monthly in Sunday morning worship and
in additional special worship experiences throughout the year. SONlight
goes on an annual choir tour, and previous tours have taken them to Charleston,
SC, St. Louis, MO, Dallas, TX, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia, PA.
On these trips, they spread the light of Christ through their witness in
song and service. Rehearsals take place on Sunday afternoons from
4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Worship Center.
Chancel Ringers
This wonderful handbell ensemble rehearses
on Sunday evenings from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center.
Throughout the year, the Chancel Ringers perform regularly in worship and
also participate in numerous festivals and workshops, including the Murfreesboro
area Epiphany Ring, the Chattanooga Area Handbell Festival, and the Middle
Tennessee Handbell Festival and Workshop. This ensemble has also
performed with the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra and at other local churches
in the area.
Chancel Choir
One of the most committed groups in
the church, the Chancel Choir rehearses every Wednesday from 7:30-9:00
p.m. in the Music Room and sings almost every Sunday during worship.
Some of the highlights of the year include special services with instrumental
groups on various holidays, the Advent/Christmas season, and various Lent/Easter
services. The choir performs various types of choral literature,
from classic to contemporary, and has performed such works as The Messiah
by G. F. Handel, Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, Christmas Cantata
by Daniel Pinkham, Gospel Mass by Robert Ray, and Gabriel Fauré’s
Requiem. However, don’t let the repertoire list overwhelm you!
No audition is necessary for this group. We seek to provide an atmosphere
where we can grow spiritually through joy, laughter, and fellowship!
Marksmen
We at St. Mark’s are fortunate to
be a spiritual home to four talented men, Steve Dix, Sean Gilliland, Al
Hollins, and Tim Tackett, who together sing in a men’s Southern Gospel
quartet called the Marksmen. They sing regularly in worship and participates
in events in the greater Murfreesboro community.
The Dots
The perfect compliment to the Marksmen
is The Dots, comprised of members Kathy Edwards, Robbie Hooper, and Rev.
Martha Touchton. The Dots is a women’s trio who performs at various
church events, worship services, and events throughout Murfreesboro and
the Tennessee Conference. Their unique chemistry and wit allows them
to sing a wide range of literature in a variety of settings!

We LOVE to feature the talent that we
have been blessed with in our community. Many members and non-members
often share their gifts in worship, and we encourage you to share your
gifts with us! It makes worship such a great time to know that we
are giving our time and commitment to God by offering the beautiful gift
of music to God in the presence of such a loving community.
If you would like to join any of our groups
or offer your talents through special solo or ensemble musical offerings
throughout the year, please contact Rev. Jackson Henry, Minister of Music
and Worship, at (615) 893-3455, or Jackson@stmarkstn.org.
Visitors and new members are always welcome!
